Meet Jess
I’m Jess, the owner and groomer at The Woof Shack, and I’ve always loved dogs. I grew up with them in the family and have had a few of my own over the years. These days I have Poppy, a black and white Chihuahua and Japanese Chin cross. She’s daft but obedient, very loving and gets on with everyone and everything.
I have a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management, specialising in domestic animals. I started working in dog grooming in 2011 and have owned The Woof Shack since 2015. Having my own salon was a dream for a long time, and I’m so pleased I’ve been able to make it happen.
I love welcoming new dogs and seeing my regulars come back. Getting to know them and their owners is such a lovely part of the job. I feel very lucky to do this for a living!

Your dog's visit
I want your dog to enjoy coming to The Woof Shack, and for you to feel comfortable leaving them with me. I work one to one, so I’m with them from their first hello to their finished groom.
Before getting started, I like to hear what you’d like from their groom and anything you’d like me to know. That might be how they like to be handled, something they’re nervous about or the way you like their coat trimmed. You know your dog best, and it helps to talk these things through.
There’s no need to rush. Some dogs are happy to get straight into their groom, while others need time to settle and a bit more reassurance. I can adapt their appointment and give them a break when they need one.

The salon
The Woof Shack is a spacious log cabin at Bradshaw’s Farm, with plenty of natural light. I’m proud to have a salon of my own where I can offer a personal service in a friendly, relaxing atmosphere, with a little spa luxury too.

I’ve chosen equipment that helps me give your dog a thorough groom, starting with the hydro bath. It combines a bath with a power shower, getting water and shampoo right through even thick coats. As it washes, the water massages the skin, helping to stimulate blood circulation and ease tired muscles.

After their bath, I hand dry dogs using a blaster dryer. This blows out loose fur and dead undercoat as it dries, leaving the coat clean, fluffy and ready for trimming and styling.

I love seeing the finished result and sending your dog home looking, feeling and smelling lovely. I look forward to welcoming you both to The Woof Shack.
